Toen ik moeder werd, had ik nooit gedacht dat ons gezin eruit zou zien zoals het nu is. Niet omdat het niet klopt, maar omdat het anders liep dan het standaard plaatje.
Mijn dochter groeit op met mij als moeder en met twee vaders: een liefdevol homostel. We delen het ouderschap. Delen haar tijd, haar leven, haar opvoeding. En vooral: onze liefde voor haar.
Co-ouderschap in een regenbooggezin klinkt voor sommigen ingewikkeld. Voor andere bijzonder. Voor mij is het vooral… ons dagelijks leven. Het betekent afspraken maken. Veel praten. Niet omdat ik minder moeder ben, maar juist omdat ik dat zó sterk voel.
Wat mensen niet altijd zien, is dat co-ouderschap ook ruimte geeft.
Ruimte om op adem te komen.
Ruimte om mezelf te blijven.
En ruimte om mijn dochter te laten ervaren dat liefde niet één vorm hoeft te hebben.
Natuurlijk is het niet altijd makkelijk. Soms schuurt het. Soms voel ik gemis. Soms voel ik mij alleen in keuzes die groot voelen. Maar wat altijd blijft, is dit: zij is omringt door liefde.
En misschien is dat wel het enige wat echt telt. Dit is geen perfect verhaal. Wel een eerlijk verhaal. En dit is pas het begin.
