In de rechtbank werd deze week duidelijk hoe een 21-jarige vrouw uit Noordwijkerhout wordt verdacht van ernstige nalatigheid of dood door schuld na de geboorte en het overlijden van haar pasgeboren dochter. De uitspraak volgt op 12 februari.
Toen alles veranderde
Volgens het Openbaar Ministerie beviel de jonge vrouw in september 2024 ’s nachts alleen in een schuur, zittend op een emmer. Haar vriend en moeder lagen te slapen; zelf voelde ze zich misselijk en had ze eerder die avond nog op de bank gezeten. In de uren waarin de bevalling plaatsvond, riep ze geen hulp in. Pas later die ochtend werd een ambulance gebeld. In het ziekenhuis bleek dat haar baby al was overleden. Artsen konden niet vaststellen waaraan precies.
De vrouw verklaarde dat ze meerdere keren buiten bewustzijn raakte en zich weinig herinnert van die nacht. Ze omschreef haar dochter als ‘een heel mooi meisje’ en zei vaak aan haar te denken. Toch vond de rechtbank haar emoties vlak. Volgens haarzelf komt dat doordat ze zich afsluit, niet omdat het verlies haar niets doet.
Geen kans
Het OM stelt dat de moeder wist dat ze zwanger was en zich op geen enkele manier had voorbereid op de bevalling. Er waren geen babyspullen, geen plan en geen hulp ingeschakeld. Dat ze na de geboorte nog haar telefoon gebruikte, weegt volgens justitie zwaar. “Op haar rustte de plicht om haar kind te beschermen,” zei de officier, die sprak van nalatigheid met dodelijke afloop. Er werd een celstraf geëist van drie jaar.
De advocaat pleitte voor vrijspraak en benadrukte dat er geen sprake was van opzet. De vrouw zelf zei herhaaldelijk dat haar dochter gewenst was. “Ze staat in een urn naast die van mijn vader,” vertelde ze in de rechtszaal. De rechtbank doet op 12 februari uitspraak.
