Het is de dag waarop je ballonnen ophangt, taart snijdt en ‘lang zal hij leven’ zingt. Maar voor Linda de Lange voelt de verjaardag van haar zoon Aaron allesbehalve feestelijk. Op Instagram deelt ze een heftige update over haar man Alex, bekend van Over Mijn Lijk. Op de dag dat hun zoon jarig is, moet Alex opnieuw onder het mes. Door een ernstige infectie.
Zorgen om Alex uit Over Mijn Lijk
De dagen voor Aarons verjaardag beginnen nog hoopvol. Alex is wakker, al wat verward, maar hij kan zijn zoon zaterdag even zien. Aaron komt binnen en Alex zegt meteen: ‘Hey maatje.’ “Zo fijn om echt weer even met z’n drietjes te zijn,” schrijft Linda. Maar diezelfde avond slaat het om. Alex krijgt hoge koorts en neemt op een manier afscheid die Linda niet snel zal vergeten. “Met de meest liefdevolle woorden ooit,” schrijft ze. Hij haalt de nacht, maar zondag wordt het niet beter.
Maandagochtend volgt een telefoontje van de arts. Alex’ wond lekt, de koorts loopt verder op en er is direct een MRI nodig. In het ziekenhuis ziet Linda hoe slecht hij eraan toe is. “Hartverscheurend slecht,” noemt ze het. Steeds opnieuw die ene gedachte: zal het toch niet nu gaan gebeuren? Een dag voor Aarons verjaardag.
De diagnose: hersenvliesontsteking en een ontsteking bij zijn nepschedel. Antibiotica starten meteen, maar een nieuwe operatie is noodzaak. De nepschedel moet worden verwijderd en zoveel mogelijk geïnfecteerd weefsel weggehaald. Alex heeft veel pijn en is ernstig ziek.

Ondanks alles probeert Linda Aarons verjaardag zo normaal mogelijk te laten verlopen. Het ziekenhuis helpt mee: cadeautjes worden ingepakt, er komt taart. Ze eten samen een stukje. En dan zegt Aaron iets wat je moederhart breekt: “Ik vind het stom en heel erg dat papa er niet is.” Linda sluit haar verhaal wel af met hoop. Hoop dat Alex deze zware operatie doorkomt. “En dan vooral heel hard duimen dat Alex er vandaag doorheen komt. Ook voor Alex zelf, maar vandaag vooral voor Aaron.”
