Op dag 4 konden we eindelijk een beetje urine opvangen. Dit heeft mijn vriend gelijk naar het ziekenhuis gebracht voor onderzoek. De volgende dag werden we direct gebeld door de kinderarts. Slecht nieuws… Uw zoon heeft CMV opgelopen tijdens de zwangerschap… Onze wereld stortte in. Hoe dan? Wanneer dan? Waarom heb ik dit niet gemerkt? Is dit mijn schuld? Waarom ons kindje? En wat nu? We waren erg verslagen door dit nieuws.
De kinderarts vertelde wat CMV allemaal precies inhoudt en wat voor ‘schade’ dit kan aanrichten bij een kindje. Ook dat het van invloed is op het moment in de zwangerschap waarop je dit hebt gekregen, want heb je het in het eerste trimester gehad (de aanlegfase) of pas in het tweede of derde trimester? Ook is het belangrijk om te weten of ik het al voor de zwangerschap heb gehad (vanwege antistoffen) of dat dit de eerste keer was. Maar wat nu? Het blijkt dat het LUMC gespecialiseerd is in CMV en dus stond onze kinderarts in nauw contact met hen om het dossier van onze zoon te bespreken.
Wij werden twee dagen later in het ziekenhuis verwacht voor een dag vol afspraken. Onze zoon kreeg eerst een echo van zijn hoofdje om te zien of alles in zijn hersentjes wel goed was. GELUKKIG WAS DIT ALLEMAAL IN ORDE!! Daarna was het tijd om bloed te prikken… Er moesten twee kleine buisjes gevuld worden met bloed. Dit was natuurlijk echt niet leuk! Aan het bloed kunnen ze zien of de organen goed zijn aangelegd (lever, nieren, bloed, milt, etc.). De uitslag volgde later. Daarna was het tijd voor de oogarts. Dit was echt een eng onderzoek. We moesten eerst een uur lang om het kwartier oogdruppels laten doen zodat zijn pupillen supergroot werden… daarna werden zijn oogleden verdoofd zodat hij niet kon ‘tegenwerken’ en daarna kreeg hij een klem in zijn oog zodat de oogarts alles goed kon bekijken. GELUKKIG WAS DIT OOK ALLEMAAL IN ORDE!!! De gehoortest konden we overslaan omdat de test van de GGD ook zou voldoen (dacht de kinderarts, hierover later meer…) en onze zoon hiervoor was geslaagd.
Daarnaast zouden ze mijn bloed, dat ik met 12 weken zwangerschap moest laten prikken, laten onderzoeken op CMV en CMV-antistoffen. Thank god bewaren ze dit altijd best lang.
Twee dagen later werden we gebeld met alle uitslagen. Gelukkig wisten we natuurlijk al dat zijn hersenen, gehoor en ogen goed waren. Nu alleen nog zijn organen en bloed. GELUKKIG WAS DIT OOK HELEMAAL IN ORDE!! Wat waren wij opgelucht en blij. Daarnaast heeft de arts kunnen achterhalen in mijn bloed dat ik de CMV-infectie voor mijn zwangerschap heb opgelopen en daardoor al antistoffen had. Daarbij heb ik een opleving gehad in het tweede of derde trimester en is dit via de placenta doorgegeven aan onze zoon. Oftewel: hij heeft een mildere versie. We moeten nog tot zijn zesde levensjaar naar het ziekenhuis voor controle van zijn ogen en oren, die kunnen namelijk nog achteruitgaan. In het begin om het half jaar en daarna om het jaar. En naar de kinderarts voor zijn algemene ontwikkeling, ook op vastgestelde momenten.
Totdat… We werden gebeld dat het LUMC de scan van zijn hersenen en de gehoortest over wil doen. Niet omdat ze het niet vertrouwen, maar omdat hun apparatuur uitgebreider is…
